Itinerary Requirement

Business Letter

If you do not have an itinerary or plane tickets you may use a business letter (see below for details).

It is preferable if you submit proof of departure. However if your plans are still not finalized you may follow our instructions and omit the "Proof of Departure" requirement. Your passport will still be processed in 4-6 business days.

If you need the passport for a business trip and will be booking your flight at the last minute you can submit a letter from your company in lieu of the itinerary or plane tickets. The letter must have the following: Please send two copies of this letter.

The letter must be on Company Letterhead
It must be signed by an official other than yourself
  Where you are traveling
  The purpose of your trip
Why you are not able to provide a flight itinerary*
It must contain the specific date by which you must have your passport and the earliest possible date of travel - e.g. "Jon Smith will need his passport by Jan 4th for business travel on Jan 6th." Do not use words like ASAP, or "around" when referring to the date of travel, please list a specific date.
photocopies or faxes of the letter are acceptable

* Business travelers cannot book flights until the last minute for a number of reasons. (Some reasons include: Business travel will be booked on the first available flight upon receipt of the passport; Waiting to hear from the overseas client who will confirm a meeting time; Travel is contingent upon... and will occur as soon as the contingency is satisfied....)
